Bikini Body Guide (BBG) Program Review

You guys know I’m a fitness junkie and I’m always looking for something new to try get these abs to make their grand entrance. The Bikini Body Guide created by Kayla Itsines has become a phenomenon! The workout consists of resistance training, cardio and stretching. The guides were first introduced through PDF books and have now moved to the BBG App which I have to say is amazing. It’s super easy to use and everything is easily displayed.

Not only are you given workouts but you’re also given recipes and a weekly grocery list. The app breaks everything down very nicely which  helps makes the whole working out thing less intimidating for beginners. You literally have set meals for every day + recipes, a workout planner that reminds you of your workouts and a progress section which helps you keep up with your progress.

With all that out the way the real work is the workouts. All I can is WOW! The workouts are made up of two circuits with three different exercises in each. The whole point of the workouts is for you to give your all for those few minutes therefore burning as many calories as possible. The workouts are 28 minutes but don’t be fooled it will be the most intense 28 minutes of your life. I started with legs and my legs hurt for the next three days.

This workout programme is great for beginners and for anyone who isn’t comfortable with going to gym (I did my workouts in the garage). Workouts require minimal equipment as you are mostly using your body weight. I loved the workouts and their intensity however I did find that the recipes required me to buy a lot of things which by the third week begun to be very costly for me. The BBG monthly subscription is R379.99 and that is way out of my recently graduated with no stable job budget. I think even if I could afford I wouldn’t buy it simply because it requires you to be very disciplined which I am not and it’s not very interactive so I did get a little bored being all myself.

I think I’ll stick to my Taebo and Youtube workouts which do not cost me a cent and keep me entertained and intrigued from beginning to the end.
